Japan is one of the safest countries in the world in point of crimes. But recently, one of my students had a precious thing stolen from her near River Kamo, which runs through Kyoto City. The criminal was a kite, a dark-brown bird, which is bigger than a crow but smaller than a hawk. The precious thing it stole was the croissant in her right hand. Just as she was about to bite into it, the kite snatched it as he passed by her shoulder!! The student said that she didn't understand what happened.
I always willingly give local information to my students, but I had forgotten to tell her about kites. Damn!
