入 and λ
The kanji characters '人' and '入' are very similar, but have totally different meanings. '人' means 'person' or 'people'. '入' means 'enter'. When I explained how to write them, one of my students said, "Oh, 'enter' is lambda."
Lambda! What a nostalgic word! For me, it was a word I hadn't heard since I used it in math or physics class when I was in high school. It took me a while to understand what he was talking about.
The student is a software designer. He says he always uses 'λ' in his work.
