intransitive verb

toilet

In Japanese, we use different verbs, depending on whether the doer influences an object or the object changes by itself. For example, the verbs "open" for "She opens the door" is "akeru" and the one for "The door opens" is "aku". The latter one, or "intransitive verbs" are sometimes not familiar to students from abroad, and therefore, difficult to master.
Recently, I found a very good teaching resource for these verbs. It is high-tech toilets, which have become widespread over the past several years. When you enter the restroom, the lights turn on automatically. When you go into a stall, the lid of the seat opens by itself. After using it, the toilet flushes without being touched anywhere. When you just bring your hands under the faucet to wash, water comes out. How about we practice saying those in Japanese!?
