'l' and 'n'

Nara, Todaiji-temple

For people from some parts of the world, the difference between 'l' and 'n' is difficult. To practice them, it is good to try saying '奈良なら便利です。(Nara nara benri desu.)' which means 'If it is Nara, it is convenient.' Although you write 'r', its pronunciation is like 'l' in Japanese. Nara is an old city near Kyoto.
There were about 10 people in the class all from the same country, and on this day, 'Nara nara ....' became a very popular mantra that everybody repeated even in the break.
