kites in the sky

the Kamo-gawa river
Do you know kites? They are black birds bigger than crows but smaller than hawks. The bank of the River Kamo is a good promenade for people in Kyoto. And the sky above it is a good space for kites as well because they can find prey easily. One day, my student was about to eat her lunch with her fiance on one of the benches along the promenade. Then, a kite dived down to the sandwich he had. As he didn't want to give up his lunch, he and the bird played a tug-of-war over it.
Hearing this story, I asked my student, "What did you do? Did you help him?" She smiled beautifully and said, "No, I looked for my camera in the bag and took pictures of them!!"
